Community Service Block Grants provide funds for the Summer Cooling Program, but the funds are not available every year. When the funds are available and allotted, an application available at the Bell-Whitley CAA must be completed to determine eligibility.
Assistance with electric bills are also available. In order to complete an application to determine eligibility for this assistance, the following information is needed: proof of income for all household members for the previous month, Social Security cards for each household member, and your most recent electric bill.
Occasionally, there is adequate funding for the purchase of air conditioning units. In order to qualify for this service, an application must also be completed. In order to complete an application to determine eligibility for an air conditioning unit the applicant must meet certain requirements. The following information is needed to complete an application: proof of income for all household members for the previous month, Social Security cards for each household member, and your most recent electric bill. In addition for a household to qualify at least one member of the household must be 60 years of age or older, or one member of the household must be disabled and have a letter from a physician stating air conditioning is necessary for medical condition, or one member of household must be six (6) years old or younger.
